Lyntegar Electric Cooperative, Inc. Scholarship Guidelines

Eligibility Requirements:

  1. Recipients must reside in the home of a Lyntegar Electric Cooperative, Inc. member.  Whether the child resides with his/her mother, father, or legal guardian, they must present a valid member number to be eligible.  Children of Lyntegar Electric Cooperative, Inc. employees are not eligible.
  2. Recipients must be graduating from a High School or receiving a GED equivalent the same year the scholarship is awarded.
  3. Recipients must enroll in the first fall semester after receipt of scholarship.
  4. Recipients must meet any entrance requirements of the college or university to which applied.

Application Guidelines and selection criteria:

  1. Interested parties will need to fill out an application form and attach the required information and return it to Lyntegar Electric Cooperative, Inc. by March 31, 2024. The scholarship selection committee will review all applications and the scholarships will be awarded in May.
  2. The areas to be considered in the selection process include: Financial need and seriousness of purpose, academic achievement, involvement in extracurricular activities, and community involvement, etc.

How the scholarship is to be paid:

  1. The scholarship will be for the fall semester and the spring semester immediately after receipt of scholarship.
  2. The scholarship will be paid directly to the college or university. Each semester will be paid separately before the start of each semester.
  3. A minimum of 12 semester hours per semester is required and a 2.5 minimum GPA is required.
  4. The recipient will need to supply Lyntegar with the college or university address as to where the scholarship money should be mailed.
  5. To receive the spring semester scholarship money the recipient will need to make a request to Lyntegar with a copy of their grades for the fall semester of studies and their schedule for the spring semester.
  6. If the student fails to meet the above criteria or drops out of school, the remaining scholarship money will be forfeited.

Golden Spread Electric Cooperative, Inc. Directors Memorial Scholarship

The Golden Spread Electric Cooperative, Inc. Directors Memorial Scholarship was formed in memory of individuals who were dedicated to the development and advancement of rural electrification for the benefit of their member/consumers.  The scholarship provides financial assistance to electric cooperative family members seeking a college or university education.

Eligibility Requirements:

-The Scholarship is available to an entering freshmen college or university student who is a member, spouse, child of a member, or child whose guardian is a member of a rural electric cooperative which is an owner (member) of Golden Spread Electric Cooperative, Inc.

Application Guidelines and Selection Criteria:

-Interested parties will need to fill out an application form and attach the required information and return it to Opportunity Plan, Inc. by March 1, 2024.

-Satisfactory scholastic performance and appropriate personal standards must be maintained for continuing eligibility.  Students must possess the qualities of honor, integrity, thrift, good moral character, and a sincere desire to achieve their educational goals.  Grades are not the sole criteria in awarding the scholarship, however, may determine the final award if all other things are found equal by the Selection Committee. 

-You must submit a copy of your most recent electric bill, in order to verify cooperative membership. 

-Selected recipients will be posted by May 15th on the Golden Spread Electric Cooperative website, www.gsec.coop.

How the scholarship is to be paid:

The scholarship is $2,000.00, payable $500.00 for each of four semesters through the sophomore year.

Applications must be received by March 1st of each year.

TREWA Scholarship

Applicant or applicant’s parent or guardian must be a current member or employee of a Texas electric cooperative AND a current member of TREWA. 

A TREWA Membership Form and application is available on the TREWA Website.  Dues are only $10 per year. 

Scholarships are awarded to graduating high school seniors and full-time college students or adults who have been accepted as a full time student to attend any accredited college, university, junior college, community college, trade/technical school or business school. 

Scholarship Applications are due on March 15, 2024.
